The trap work as follows :
Steam enters lifts disc letting out air and condensate.
Dry steam at higher velocity creates low pressure under disc pulling it on the seat.
Flash steam on top of the disc builds up pressure holding disc on the set, trapping stem below.
Condensation of steam above disc reduces pressure.
Condensate below disc at higher pressure lifts disc letting out the condensate …. Fresh steam enters … the cycle repeats.
Steam an ideal and cheap heat transfer media.
