PLANETARY GEAR MOTOR
Planetary Gear Motor Working Principle
A large family gear arrangements are under the general name of Epicyclic gearing. Generally speaking the Epicyclic train has a central 'sun' gear with several planets. The name Epicyclic comes from the fact that points on the planets trace out epicycloidal curves in space. The name planetary is used interchangeably with epicyclic to denote the whole family of gears.
In order to cover the wide range of reduction ratios and power handling, various methods of planetary gear arrangements, which include simple Planetary Trains, compound Planetary Trains or Coupled Planetary Trains may be employed.
Salient Features
High Efficiency
The planetary gears with high degree of rolling transmission, accurately positioned with friction free bearing ensures high values of efficiency.
Versatile Reduction Ratios
Reduction Ratios as indicated in the selection chart are intended for standard applications which are in line with general market practices, Intermediate ratios or higher ratios can be offered to suit the application requirements.
Low Interia
Due to low inertia. Planetary gearboxes demand less accelerating torque and improve machine response when used with High Response electronically controlled variable speed drives.
Reversible Transmission
This feature makes Planetary gears ideal for high inertia loads where sudden stoppages will result in transmission of torque and speed in reverse direction. The reversibility allows this power to be transmitted to the high speed end of the gear box without causing any damage to the gears, couplings or other elements in the line of power transmission.
Compactness and high Load Carrying capability
The power transmitting capacity of Planetary gear systems is higher than standard gearboxes and hence they are able to transmit greater power for a given size.
Co-Linear Shafts
Input and output shafts are Co-Linear and may be coupled with prime mover and driven machine by various standard connecting methods such as direct coupling, chains, belts etc.
Minimal Maintenance
Maintenance is limited to topping up of oil level in the gearbox, external cleaning and changing of bearings as per preventive maintenance schedule.
Quality Gears
High quality alloy steel gears are heat treated and ground as necessary.
