WORKING PRINCIPLE |
| It works on principle
of friction drive through conical rollers having metal to metal contact
with driving and driven elements through an extremely thin elastohydrodynamic
film of lubricant between contact surfaces effecting smooth transmission
of power. The double conical rollers effect power transmission by its rolling action. Conical rollers are freely mounted in needle bearings in the roller carrier. |

| The to-and-fro
motion of the carrier through a rack and pinion arrangement makes different
diameters of the cones to come in contact with driving and driven component
resulting in infinite speed variation. These two different positions explains
how speed variation is achieved. All moving parts including bearings are continuously splashed/forced lubricated. |

fixed speed to Variator, stepless speed variation can be obtained from Max. speed = 1.7 x input speed to Min. speed = 1/7 x input speed Max. speed = 12 : 1 to 3:1 depending upon selection. |
